Adam Lambert grew up in Rancho Peñasquitos, San Diego, California and attended Deer Canyon Elementary School, Mesa Verde Middle School, and Mt. Carmel High School, where he was in theater, choir, and a jazz band.
Adam is an artist poised to take the industry by storm! His father, a former DJ, exposed Adam to the best music of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. With over 15 years of experience and training in professional musical theatre, he consistently delivers commanding and high-energy live performances. What sets Lambert apart is his brilliant VOICE.
Adam has the power, texture and attitude of greats like
Freddy Mercury,
Robert Plant,
Steve Perry and
Michael Jackson as well as high, show-stopping vocal gymnastics to rival the likes of
Aguilera or
Labelle. A musical chameleon, he is capable of wooing you with the most intimate of ballads to blowing you away with the stankest funk, soul, classic rock, electropop and house! The songs featured were all co-written by Lambert (except for the
Five for Fighting Cover) and are hook-heavy with a dash of camp to keep you smiling. Adam has over 10 years of professional stage experience.
His creative turning point was being cast in a six-month European tour of the musical “Hair.” Adam returned to Hollywood inspired to make his mark as a contemporary artist. He began to make appearances as a glam rock soul alter ego in The Zodiac Show at The Henry Fonda Music Box and Club Makeup at the Key Club. He has performed for audiences at the Burning Man art festival over the past two years. After gaining credibility on the club circuit, he landed his breakout theatre role.
His LA breakout role was opposite
Val Kilmer’s Moses, as Joshua in The Ten Commandments at the Kodak Theatre in 2004. His tour de force performance of “Is Anybody Listening” by
Patrick Leonard became a press and crowd favorite with the New York Times calling him “the most consistent crowd-wower” and the LA Times stating that his “personal sound and style… (was) the best.”
After “The Ten Commandments,” Adam was cast to understudy in the first national Broadway tour of the musical “Wicked.” While on tour for six months, he began collaborating with Composer/Guitarist Monte Pittman (
Madonna, Prong). Together they formed alt/rock band
The Citizen Vein. With Monte and
Kiril Dzajkovski, Adam has also written a four track Solo EP produced by Malcolm Welsford for Wilshire Artists. Today they have written over 20 songs as the alt/pop/rock band
The Citizen Vein. Prior to Adam’s stint on American Idol, the two were working with Producer Malcolm Welsford and A&R Worldwide, recording a series of songs.
A musical chameleon, he seamlessly maneuvers in and out of Pop, Rock, R&B, Soul, Electronic, and Adult Contemporary genres. Influences include
Freddy Mercury,
Robert Plant,
Donny Hathaway, and
Steve Perry, among many others.

The California native subsequently parlayed that theater background into a successful multi-month run on #American Idol in 2009. Lambert's flair for neo-goth attire and eclectic arrangements made him a critical favorite, as did his dramatic tenor vocals. Following performances of Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love," Tears for Fears' "Mad World," and Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire," Lambert found himself pitted against contender Kris Allen in the grand finale, which he ultimately lost by a slim margin. Lambert was unanimously praised by the #American Idol judges, however, who all but guaranteed him a successful recording career following the show's conclusion.
Although Lambert didn't win the #Idol competition, he received far more attention than his castmates during the subsequent months, appearing on the cover of ~Rolling Stone in June ("I don't think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I'm gay," he stated in the accompanying article, thus putting an end to the public's speculation) and eliciting standing ovations during the summer-long #American Idol tour. He also signed with RCA and began recording his debut album, working alongside producer Rob Cavallo while soliciting material from the likes of Lady Gaga, Linda Perry, Justin Hawkins, and RedOne. One month before For Your Entertainment's release, Lambert unveiled his first single, a track from the #2012 soundtrack titled "Time for Miracles." His debut album followed in late November (arriving one week after the release of Kris Allen's own debut) and sold close to 200,000 copies during its first week, outdoing new releases by Rihanna and Lady Gaga in the process. Meanwhile, a risquà performance at the American Music Awards -- during which Lambert kissed his male keyboardist and danced suggestively with both sexes -- helped gather additional headlines, not to mention a fair amount of controversy.
~ And we ain't seen the best of Adam yet, I'm SURE. Stay tuned.
